for ordinary people walking in wonder.

Remember something momentous that happened to you. Then write about what happened right before the incident.

We got married on a Saturday-

November 28, 2015.

And held the rehearsal the Thursday evening before-

November 26, 2015.

Little did I know

How that rehearsal would

Impact my life.

I remember

Lots of things.

I remember

Feeling nervous.

I remember

Feeling relieved

To be practicing what we had been planning for so long.

I remember

Feeling hungry-

Very hungry.

The kind of hungry that comes from

Being too busy and nervous

To eat properly all day.

The kind of hungry that comes from

Being relieved that you survived something.

I remember

A platter of assorted subs from Subway.

I remember

Feeling like my brain couldn’t handle a

Decision

And so instead of letting a decision even exist,

I just took a sandwich.

It turns out that

I grabbed a tuna sub.

I don’t like fish,

But there was no going back at that point.

So I loaded that baby up with

Red onions and peppers and cucumbers and lettuce and sweet onion sauce.

I don’t like fish.

But wow-

I loved that sub.

I loved that sub

So much

That the next morning,

I ate a leftover tuna sub for breakfast

Before I drove to the church to begin wedding set-up.

If we’re being completely honest,

A tuna sub doesn’t taste as good first thing in the morning

As it does in the evening.

(But it was still pretty good.)

Ever since then,

I order tuna subs.

I’ve learned

A thing or two.

Like

Don’t order it on flatbread,

And

NEVER

Have it toasted.

Cold is the way to go.

There’s nothing like

A

Nice

Refreshing

Cold

Tuna sub.

Every time I have one,

I expect to not like it,

(Because I don’t like fish.

Have I mentioned that I don’t like fish?)

But I just keep liking it.

We got married on a Saturday-

November 28, 2015.

And held the rehearsal the Thursday evening before-

November 26, 2015.

That is the anniversary of me and tuna subs.
